Hey Dads! Do You Want To Start Your Own Work From Home Business?

Recently for the first time in history there are more women in the workforce than men. This means there are more and more Dads staying home taking care of the house and kids. In addition there are other reasons, the new trend in unemployment rate is the biggest. During this past recession three men lost their job to every one woman leaving a high percentage of women employed and bringing in paychecks. However, for many families one paycheck isn't enough to meed the needs. Many stay at home dads are trying to find a way to start their own work from home business while taking care of the household responsibilities. Although there are many choices to choose from to start a work from home businesses most are geared towards women. For example, many work from home businesses have the following products: make up, jewelry, home furnishings and these consultants (and their clients) are women. Are there any options for a Dads?

The one word answer is: FUNDRAISING. That's right, fundraising. Many states have made drastic cuts to school budgets leaving many schools desperate for fundraisers throughout the year. Check to see if there is interest in your area by calling a school and talking to a coach, teacher or member of the PTA. They will most likely jump at the chance to have a unique and profitable fundraiser.

There are many companies here to help you participate in fundraising. There are some details to consider when investigating these companies and their products:

1. Ease of Use - You are looking for a product that is easy to use. Upon the sale of fundraising some items wont be as big of a margin if you sold the goods for retail, but you should be able to make it up in volume. Make sure that this is something you can handle and run with ease.

2. Unique - You want to try a product that everyone knows and loves however, be careful not start a fundraiser that everyone else is doing. If you search Bing, Yahoo, or Google for the keyword fundraising, you will see that the cookie dough is very big. If you and three other people approach the same school to have a cookie dough fundraiser, why would the school pick your fundraiser, unless your price was the lowest? Think about this when looking at your options. Another fundraising favorite would be, candy bars. Candy bars are excellent fundraisers because some companies allow you to customize the package to give them a fresh and unique look.

3. Start up cost - The majority of companies will charge you a start up cost. This start up cost will typically cover a start up kit which will may be a supply of inventory as well as training material. Its important to find out if there are recurring monthly fees or just a start up fee.

4. Return policy - To help eliminate the scams from the honest companies you'll want to verify that there is a return policy. If you get a kit and then decide your not impressed with the products, training, customer service, whatever the reason, make sure there is a return policy in place.

5. Other use for products - Another question to ask yourself: Can these products be used for other events besides fundraisers? If the products work well only for fundraising you may not be as busy during certain parts of the year. However if you find a company whose products can be used not only for fundraisers but for other special occasions as well you should be able to earn money from home year round.

6. Healthy choices - Mentioned earlier, candy bars are a great staple for school fundraising. With the importance on helping our kids to become healthier it would be nice if you could offer schools some different choices. For example, bottled water would be a great fundraiser. There are companies which allow you to print personalized bottled water labels from your home computer. In addition, another alternative to candy bars is to use other "bar" shaped items. For example, instead of putting a personalized wrapper around a candy bar, you could try a granola bar, or a protein bar. There are some companies whose products fit various shaped items similar to these.

This is a truly unique time for families. Never before have this many men been stay at home husbands and fathers. For those of you who need to find a way to supplement your income consider a work from home business doing fundraisers. Not only will you be able to earn money from home but you will be involved with your children's school. It's a win-win situation!
